BMW will soon launch its all-new 2019 X7 crossover. But surprisingly, even before it happens, we already hear another newcomer under consideration. It is reportedly to be the high-prerformance M variant of the upcoming three-row X7.
On the other models like the X5 and X6, the M variant is already available, and it will soon be available on the X3 as well. Still, BMW apparently thinks the M model expansion should be continued as it wants to challenge Porsche and Mercedes-Benz crossovers.
Just as reported by BMW Blog, the X7 M is being considered to join the brand’s lineup too. Its engine will allegedly use the same unit as the M version of the outgoing X5 and X6, that is the 4.4-liter V8 which would be revised to deliver around 600 HP.
That output would be enough to eclipse rival SUVs like the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, Range Rover Sport SVR and SVAutobiography, which all pack engines rated at 577 HP, 575 HP, and 557 HP respectively. It’s worth noting that all these talks about performance are currently just speculations, and BMW hasn’t yet decided whether the X7 M should be built or not.
