Acura revealed its plan in April that it would build a special edition of its TLX saloon called the PMC. The name itself stands for Performance Manufacturing Center, which is the production plant of the NSX. At the same time, it’s now also the assembly place of the 2020 TLX PMC Edition.
The red-colored saloon has a limited production run of 360 units. What make it an interesting car aren’t just its striking red paint and the fact that it’s a hand-made beauty, but also the price Acura is asking for it. According to the automaker’s announcement earlier this month, the TLX PMC Edition will set you back $50,945, including $1,995 destination and handling.

That’s still well above the normal TLX that costs around $36,000, but it actually undercuts other midsize luxury sedans. What you get with that money is a combined appearance of the A-Spec and Advance Packages. As you can see, the car’s body is finished in Valencia Red Pearl, the same color that coats the grille surround and side mirror covers.
As for the roof, door handles, and 19-inch wheels, they come in gloss black. Adding charm to the mix are the dark chrome 4-inch dual exhaust finishers. We won’t talk much about performance, since that would be the same as talking about the standard TLX. It still packs the identical 3.5-liter, 294-horsepower V6 engine.

What’s more interesting about the TLX PMC is its hand-built nature. Its components are carefully put together and configured by the marque’s master builders, setting it apart from normal production-line vehicles. The car also needs to pass the identical verification method as the NSX, so it has to undergo a dyno test as well.
Usually, you’d have to pay hundreds of grands to a boutique automaker to get this kind of hand-built car while dealing with all the issues of having such an exotic vehicle. The TLX PMC Edition, however, is made available at a much more affordable price despite the same high-level of carefulness and attention poured upon it during the making process.

In the end, though, you’ll remember that it’s an Acura that comes with its own unique quality and characteristics. The 2020 TLX PMC Edition has now started to be shipped to dealerships across the US. If you’re interested, you can plunk your cash down on one as there’s no factory order process for the car.
