2019 Honda Civic Hatchback and Type R are Nicely Refreshed

The new 2019 Honda Civic was first unveiled in September in forms of sedan and coupe. Then, last month, the Japanese automaker launched the refreshed Si variants of both types. To complete the lineup, now Honda rolls out the Civic Hatchback along with the Type R.

Just like other versions of the 2019 Civic, the key updates of the latest two lie inside. Those updates include more physical buttons to control the fan and interact with various functions of the infotainment system. Revisions also include the adjustment of the steering wheel controls, and the addition of an indicator light for the electronic parking brake. If you want to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, they are standard from EX trims.

The 2019 Civic Hatchback is priced from $21,450 for the LX trim that uses a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Sport trim is the only one to feature a six-speed manual, it starts at $22,250. Meanwhile, the top-trim Sport Touring will set you back $28,750. Engine is the same for all trims, namely a 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 petrol, although the output is a bit different for the Sport and Sport Touring trims, which make 180 HP, while the others have 174 HP.

Honda has also given the new Civic Hatchback lineup a substantial boost in safety. Honda Sensing will be available as standard gear on all trims. It is a suite of safety and driver-assistive systems that bundles autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and lane-keep assist.

2019 Honda Civic Hatchback and Type R are Nicely Refreshed

The Civic Type R gets a slightly redesigned interior and a new color option of sonic gray pearl, which has been available on other versions of the Civic Hatchback since its debut. The Civic Type R also gets a higher price tag of $35,700 this year, representing a $1000 increase over the previous model.

According to Honda, all variants of the 2019 Civic Hatchback, including the Type R, will arrive at Honda dealerships on November 3. However, some of you better get ready to wait a little longer, since not all dealers receive new cars as soon as they release.
