Audi said it will launch the 2019 E-Tron on September 17, coinciding with the San Francisco event. The Audi’s first all-electric car can be ordered by US consumers on the same date. The arrival of the new E-Tron is expected to tighten competition in the electric SUV segment which is already heating up.
Audi will provide specification and pricing details of the 2019 E-Tron at www.audiusa.com, so that customers can choose the configuration that suits their needs and place a refundable $1,000 reservation.
According to Audi, this new reservation system is part of its plan to create a “digital ecosystem” that will make it convenient for US customers to switch to electric cars. Once a reservation is placed, customers will be able to track their E-Tron online as it’s made. Further explanation on this digital ecosystem will be given when the electric SUV goes official.
The 2019 Audi E-Tron is a five-seater premium SUV made for those who want to feel the nuances of luxury in their first ever electric car. Audi said the new SUV can’t arrive in the US this year, but it will roll into showrooms in early 2019.
The German automaker has planned to release three electric vehicles by 2020, and now it has begun executing its plan. The 2019 E-Tron will be the first of three to hit the market. Audi estimates that nearly one-third of its customers will be ready to embrace electrified vehicles by 2025.
